This forum will explore the different models of specialist youth homelessness services (SAAP) in Queensland. It will also debate the role of specialist youth homelessness services and compare these to the concepts of Housing First, Foyers and Supportive Housing etc.
The aim of the forum is to provide some cohesion to who specialist youth homelessness services are and what their role and function is in a spectrum of support for young people.
This forum will be for specialist youth homelessness services only.
Venue to be confirmed.
Youth Homelessness Matters Day 2011 will be held on the Wednesday in the middle of National Youth Week.
Ways to support the campaign
On an ongoing basis the campaign is self funded through the support of community members. You can support the campaign by ordering a Youth Homelessness Matters Bag.
The satchel is large enough to fit your laptop. The cost of a bag is $4.00 for young people and $5.00 for workers including gst, plus postage. To order please send a cheque or money order to 'Queensland Youth Housing Coalition' PO Box 122 Paddington Queensland 4064 or fill out the order form.
The Queensland Youth Housing Coalition Inc is writing a brief history of the youth housing/homelessness sector and would welcome your input. The aim of the project is to develop a written history of the youth housing/homelessness sector in Queensland to ensure that the valuable contribution made by you and others is documented and recognised. It is anticipated that the final product will be in book form with historical data, anecdotes and photos. To this end we are requesting your assistance in providing stories, photos or any other materials ie poster, postcards, campaign materials that you may have to share that we can include. All material will be acknowledged and stories attributed to the author/s. If you have any stories or information that you would like to share please contact us at admin@qyhc.org.au or phone us on 07 3876 2088. If you have any questions regarding the project please contact Ms Maria Leebeek Executive Officer.
