School Based Youth Health Nurses

Queensland Health funds a School-Based Youth Health Nurse (SBYHN) program in Queensland state schools. All secondary students in Queensland have access to a School Based Youth Health Nurse, including students enrolled in schools of Distance Education. SBYHN's work collaboratively within the school cirriculum, teaching and learning activities; advocating on behalf of young people on issues affecting their health and wellbeing and providing individual health consultations for students, parents, and members of the school community. School Based Police Officers

Under Queensland's School Based Policing program, 35 police officers work in 47 high schools throughout the state. The school based policing strategy has the potential the enhance students' educational outcomes by helping to create environments that support student welfare and learning. SBPOs assist in improving the overall health and wellbeing of the school community by supporting students at risk of offending or becoming involved in the juvenile justice system. The SBPO Program also encourages school communities to adopt approaches that aid in crime prevention and proactive policing.

Scripture Union QLD Chaplaincy

Scipture Union Chaplaincy Services support more than 600 schools across Queensland. Working alongside other caring professionals, SU Qld Chaplains care for young people's spiritual and emotional needs through pastrol care, activity programs, community outreach and adventure-based learning. SU Qld Chaplains provides a personal point of Christian contact, care and support for student, teachers and their families within their schools.

Guidance Officers - Intensive Behaviour Support

The Role of Guidance Officer is to provide services to students requiring intensive behaviour support across school communities. Guidance officers directly assess and address the educational, personal, vocational and institutional needs of students (P-12) requiring intensive support.

Local Government

Local Government, in partnership with the State Government, is committed to actively encouraging the contribution, participation and engagement of young people in the development and implementation of policy, programs, opportunities and services that directly impact upon young people exclusively or within broader community agendas.
