YSC PRACTICE MANUAL

The YSC Practice Manual is an initiative of the YSC Hub Facilitators. The development of the manual includes ongoing consultation with the YSC Network across Queensland. The manual provides the YSCI and other stakeholders with a range of information, background data and parameters, practice wisdoms, and insights into the operations of the YSCI to support and facilitate their work in the field.

The YSC Practice Manual aims to provide guidance and support across the program that sits within the community frameworks of YSCs. The manual provides a resource document that will enhance service practice, service consistency and service standards. The manual is not about making all services the same or taking away from YSC organisations the responsibility to provide strong and supportive policy, resourcing and support frameworks. It is about highlighting and acknowledging service variation and flexibilty in the achievement of common goals and objectives.

The manual acknowledges the diversity YSC organisations bring to the program and the YSC Network. It is based on the premise that what happens in YSC services evolves over time and will look very different from location to location. The manual celebrates and recognises these diversities.

USING THE YSC PRACTICE MANUAL

The Practice Manual has been designed with the expressed intention that it is a living, growing document. To this end the manual is now online making it easy to update and keeps it relevant.

The manual has been divided into nine sections containing specific information and content. Some of these sections have been divided further into practice sub subsections (i.e. Section 4A). Practice sub-sections are indicated by a yellow background. The nineth section includes all apprendices, these are referenced throughout the manual by a paperclip symbol.
