The Queensland Government is in the final stages of preparing draft legislation. Make Renting Fair Queensland are supporting five proposed improvements to the tenancy laws. These improvements will increase stability, safety and well-being for people who rent their homes:

1. Ending tenancies fairly by removing ‘no reason’ evictions
|
|
2. Minimum health and safety standards for all rental homes
|
|
3. Making it easier for renters to have pets
|
|
4. Allowing renters to make reasonable modifications
|
5. Increasing protections for renters experiencing family violence
|
|

Inquiry into Homelessness in Australia
The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs is conducting an Inquiry into homelessness in Australia.

Extreme Ninja Warriors
|
Extreme Ninja Warriors will feature amongst other innovative events across the State during Queensland Youth Week 2020. You can take the Extreme Ninja Warrior Challenge on this 85 foot inflatable course or for the youngest of participants, a jumping castle can be enjoyed. Great prizes on offer. Food and drinks will be on sale by community organisations. The event also features a Driving simulator and live music by young local band 'The Stoned Wings.' All are welcome to turn up. No RSVP needed.

The annual Queensland Child Protection Awards provide an opportunity to publicly acknowledge the efforts, commitment and unreserved energy of many people who make a significant contribution to our community to prevent child harm and neglect. There are several Award categories to choose from.

Regional Grants
Each year during Queensland Child Protection Week, (QCPW) events are held throughout Queensland to promote the key theme that Child Protection is Everybody’s Responsibility as well as sharing the key messages of QCPW.
|
|
Regional events need to reflect the diversity of the region. The event/activity must be completed within Child Protection Week 6-12 September 2020.
|
Regional Grants of $5,000 are available for each of the five regional areas of Queensland:
|
Activity Grants
Grants of up to $1000 are available to non-government organisations, community organisations and networks. Successful applicants may receive full or partial grants. The Queensland Child Protection Week Committee encourages applications for events that have been designed to positively support the theme and aims of Child Protection Week.
