Welcome Ministers

A few changes this month in Queensland parliament. Of particular note, we have a new Housing Minister. A huge congratulations and a very warm welcome to Minister Scanlon on becoming Queensland’s Housing Minister. We had the pleasure of meeting Minister Scanlon as Minister for Youth, now as Minister for Housing we will have many more occasions to meet with her and discuss the vital work specialist youth homelessness services and QYHC do in responding to the ever-growing needs of Queensland’s homeless and at-risk young people. We are looking forward to our important work together.

Congratulations to Minister Enoch on becoming our new Minister for Treaty and Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships whilst continuing as our Minister for Communities and the Arts. We thank her for the passion and commitment she brought to finding housing solutions in these difficult times.  We appreciate the collegiality and look forward to continuing our work with Minister Enoch in her Communities portfolio which now includes youth; whilst also supporting her as Minister for Treaty. We’ve been so fortunate to be part of Treaty conversations and are keen to support the Queensland path to Treaty in any way we can.

A warm welcome back to Minister Di Farmer as she assumes responsibility for Youth Justice. We look forward to working with Minister Farmer and Director General Bob Gee again. It’s fabulous to see a Minister for Mental Health. Welcome to Hon Shannon Fentiman as both Minister for Health and Ambulance Services and Minister for Mental Health. Minister Fentiman also continues her important work in the Minister for Women portfolio.
